SERPINB13

[serpin peptidase inhibitor clade B member 13] This protease inhibitor (391 amino acids, 44 kDa) is known also as PI13 [protease inhibitor-13] (Abts et al, 1999). The protein has been identified originally in human keratinocytes subjected to low dose UVB treatment (see: HUR7) (Abts et al, 1997). SERPINB13 is being referred to also as Hurpin [HaCaT UV-repressible serpin] and has been identified independently as Headpin (Spring et al, 1999), a serpin that is downregulated in head and neck cancer. The gene encoding this protease inhibitor has been cloned by Abts et al (1999).
