This cell line has been established from a head-and-neck (tongue) carcinoma (Urade et al, 1992). The cells form tumors in nude mice and are very resistant to Bleomycin (Urade et al, 1992). The cells secrete large amounts of G-CSF into the conditioned medium. In vitro treatment of the cells with recombinant G-CSF significantly augments their invasive potential in dose- and time-dependent manners. Treatment of the cells with a monoclonal antibody against G-CSF reduces invasiveness (Noda et al, 1999).
