[suppressive B-cell factor] This biochemically uncharacterized factor of approximately 34 kDa is produced by B-lymphocytes expressing Fc receptors for IgG, stimulated with IgG immune complexes. It is produced also by the hybridoma TS4.44, established by fusion of B-cells with receptors for the Fc portion of IgG and thymidine kinase defective fibroblasts, 3T3-4E cells (Suzuki et al, 1983, 1985).
SBF suppresses responses of B-cells in vivo and in vitro by inhibiting their proliferation. SBF acts on the early step of B-cell activation and inhibits G0-G1 cell cycle transition and probably also the expression of functional IL4
