Ramos
This EBV-negative HLA class 1 positive B-lymphoblastoid cell line has been established from a 3 year old Caucasian male with Burkitt lymphoma (Klein et al, 1975). The cells express IgM (Klein et al, 1975; Benjamin et al, 1982). The cells express CD23 and IL4 receptors (Rousset et al, 1988).
Ramos cells, or a subline, designated Ramos.G6.C10, are used in bioassays of human IL4 (Siegel and Mostowski, 1990; Custer and Lotze, 1990). The assay is based on the induction of CD23 expression induced in these cells by the cytokine.
