RLVG

This tetrapeptide comprises the aminoterminal segment, Arg8-Leu9-Val10-Gly11, of the single polypeptide chain of the cysteine proteinase inhibitor cystatin C, which constitutes an essential part of its inhibitory center. The peptidyl derivative Z-RLVG-CHN2 [benzyloxycarbonyl-RLVG-diazomethane] inhibits cysteine proteinases and has been shown also to inhibit bone resorption in vitro (Johansson et al, 2000).
