[Reversion-inducing Cysteine-rich Protein with Kazal Motifs] In databanks the protein is being referred to also as ST15 [Suppressor of tumorigenicity 15].
The cDNA encoding RECK has been identified by Takahashi et al (1998). The expression of RECK gives rise to flat colonies when transfected into v-Ki-ras-transformed NIH 3T3 cells, i.e. the expression of RECK reverses the transformed phenotype of these cells. RECK, encodes a membrane-anchored glycoprotein of about 110 kDa with multiple EGF-like repeats and serine-protease inhibitor-like domains. RECK mRNA is expressed in various human tissues and untransformed cells
