(approved gene symbol) [quaking] abbr. QK, QK1, HQK [homolog of quaking]. Quaking has been identified originally as an autosomal recessive mutant mouse with marked tremor of the hindquarters. The mice eat, swim, breed, and nurse well even though the entire central nervous system is very deficient in myelin. Peripheral nerves are myelinated (Sidman et al, 1964).
