Pvf2
[PDGF/VEGF factor-2] also: DmVEGF2 [Drosophila melanogaster VEGF-2]. Pvf2, encoded by the CG13780 gene, is a Drosophila melanogaster growth factor related to mammalian PDGF and VEGF. The receptor for Pvf2, pvr, is related to mammalian PDGF and VEGF receptors and is expressed on hemocytes (Heino et al, 2001). Overexpression of Pvf2 causes proliferation of circulating hemocytes in vivo, demonstrating that Pvf2 is involved in Drosophila melanogaster hematopoiesis (Munier et al, 2002).
