Psoriasin

Psoriasin, also known as Psoriasin 1 (abbr. PSOR1), is a calcium binding protein of 11.45 kDa belonging to the S100 protein family (Burgisser et al, 1995). The approved gene symbol is S100A7 [S100 calcium binding protein A7]. The human gene maps to chromosome 1q21-q22 (Hardas et al, 1996).

Psoriasin appears to be identical with RIS-1 [retinoic acid inducible skin-specific 1], a human skin-specific gene transcript the expression of which is inducible by retinoic acid (Tavakkol et al, 1994).
