PB1 domain

[PB1 domains]

[Phox and Bem1 domain] This evolutionarily conserved protein domain is a protein-protein interaction domain of approximately 80 amino acids. Some PB1 domains can heterodimerize with a paired PB1 domain, but not all PB1 domains will associate with one another.

The PB1 domain is found in a number of cytoplasmic signaling proteins (Teresawa et al, 2002). Two types of the domain have been described (Yoshinaga et al, 2003). Type 1 PB1 domains contains an internal conserved sequence of 28 amino acids with highly conserved acidic and hydrophobic residues (Nakamura et al, 1998).
