Opisin

This peptide, FWSWLMKAATKLLPSMLGS, is an antimicrobial peptide from the scorpion Opistophthalmus glabrifrons (Bao et al, 2015). Opisin potently inhibits the growth of Gram-positive bacteria and possesses much lower activity against Gram-negative bacteria and a fungus. Opisin strongly inhibits the growth of methicillin- and vancomycin-resistant pathogens and completely kills cultured methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus.
