Octarphin

Octarphin (TPLVTLFK; Thr-Pro-Leu-Val-Thr-Leu-Phe-Lys), corresponding to Beta-Endorphin(12-19) is the shortest peptide possessing practically the same inhibitory activity as beta-Endorphin (Navolotskaya et al, 2008). Octarphin binds with a high affinity and specificity to a non-opioid receptor of beta-Endorphin on rat brain cortex membranes (Nekrasova et al, 2010). The peptide binds to the same receptor that also binds Immunorphin on rat myocardium membranes (Nekrasova et al, 2012). Nekrasova et al (2013) have reported that the same receptor is expressed also on T-cells and B-cells.
