This protein is encoded in the genome of orf virus. Nagendraprabhu P (2017) have reported that ORFV119 inhibits NF-kappa-B signaling very early in infection in a process dependent on retinoblastoma Rb protein and involving interactions with the IKK-alpha / IKK-beta complex, and TRAF2. Transient expression of ORFV119 in uninfected cells has been shown to be sufficient to inhibit IKK complex activation induced by TNF-alpha and NF-kappa-B signaling. Infection of sheep with orf virus mutants lacking the ORFV119 gene attenuates the disease phenotype, indicating that ORFV119 contributes to virulence in the natural host.
Li W et al (2018) have reported that ORFV119 targets the mitochondria in host cells
