ORFV024
This protein is encoded in the genome of orf virus and has been shown to inhibit functions of transcription factor NF-kappa-B. Deletion of ORFV024 has no significant effect on disease severity, progression, and time to resolution in sheep, indicating that ORFV024 is not essential for virus virulence in the natural host. Infection of primary ovine cells with an ORFV024 deletion mutant virus markedly increases the expression of NF-kappa-B-regulated chemokines and cytokines (CCL20, CXCL1, CXCL2, IL6, IL8) and other pro-inflammatory host genes, for example IRF1, MMP1, MMP3, MMP13.
