This lymphoblastoid cell line has been established from leukemic blast progenitors of a patient with acute myeloblastic leukemia after continuous culture in the presence of G-CSF. The cells growing in suspension culture resembled myeloblasts on the basis of morphologic, cytochemical and surface phenotypic analyses.
OCI/AML1a cells do not respond to GM-CSF, IL3, IL1 or SCF. The stimulatory effect of G-CSF on OCI/AML1a cells is blocked almost completely by monoclonal anti-G-CSF antibody. The cells respond better to mutant recombinant G-CSF (KW-2228
