[neurotrophin receptor interacting factor-2] The NRIF2 gene encodes a zink finger protein with similar structural and biochemical properties and subcellular distribution as NRIF. Overexpression in transfected fibroblasts correlates with impaired BrdU incorporation. Upregulation of NRIF2 transcripts is observed NRIF knock-out mice. It is thought that NRIF2 and NRIF may functionally complement each other in certain genetic backgrounds (Sv129 mice) in which mutations preventing NRIF binding to the p75LNGFR receptor do not cause embryonic lethality.
