[neurosecretory protein GL] The cDNA for this avian neurosecretory protein of 80 amino acids with an amidated C-terminus has been cloned by Ukena et al (2014). An alternative databank designation is Fam237a [Family with sequence similarity 237 member A].

The NPGL precursor mRNA is expressed in specific regions of the hypothalamic infundibulum. mRNA levels in the hypothalamic infundibulum increase during post-hatching development.
