[neural apoptosis-regulated convertase 1] This protein (692 amino acids) is encoded by the PCSK9 gene [proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9] (approved gene symbol). The protein is a putative proprotein convertase, which belongs to the proteinase K subfamily of subtilases (Seidah et al, 2003). It is being referred to also as PC9 [Proprotein convertase 9].
