[neutrophil-activating protein-2] NAP-2 is a protein with a length of 70 amino acids. The sequence is identical with the 70 carboxyterminal amino acids of PBP (platelet basic protein) from which it is released by proteolytic cleavage. NAP-2 is generated through cleavage by cathepsin G. PBP is also the precursor of some other protein fragments with the activity of cytokines (see: Beta-Thromboglobulin). Another designation for NAP-2 is CTAP-3 des 1-15 (see also: CTAP-3).
