[Mitogen-regulated protein-4] MRP-4 is one of several mitogen-regulated proteins expressed at high levels during midgestation and thought to induce angiogenesis and uterine growth (see: MRP/PLF). The protein is being referred to also as PLF4 [proliferin-4]. Soares et al (2007) have proposed the designation Prl2c5 [prolactin family 2 subfamily C member 5] for this protein as it is a member of the family of PRL-like proteins that act as circulating hormones and cytokines.
The amino acid sequence of MRP-4 is 91 % identical with that of other mitogen-regulated proteins
