MMIF

[macrophage migration inhibitory factor] This factor was one of the first cytokines (lymphokines) to be discovered (Bloom and Bennett, 1966; David, 1966). MMIF is a product of T-lymphocytes and inhibits the migration of guinea pig macrophages (see also: Motogenic cytokines).

The more common designation for this factor, which is produced also by other cell types, is MIF (migration inhibition factor).
