[Myxoma virus M-T1] This protein is encoded by the genome of myxoma virus. The protein is dispensable for virus replication in vitro. The protein is referred to also as CBP-2 [Type 2 chemokine binding protein] chemokine binding protein-2]. In newer publications the protein is being referred to as vCKBP-2 [viral chemokine binding protein-2].
M-T1 is a member of a larger superfamily of poxvirus proteins (T1 family of leporipoxviruses) that includes related secreted 35 kDa proteins encoded by a wide variety of orthopoxviruses (see: vCCI). M-T1 has been shown initially to bind one of the CC-Chemokines, RANTES
