Four short antibacterial peptides (7-10 amino acids), termed Leucrocin I (NGVQPKY), Leucrocin II (NAGSLLSGWG), Leucrocin III, Leucrocin IV have been identified in white blood cell extracts of the Siamese crocodile (Pata et al, 2011). Leucrocins show strong antibacterial activity towards Staphylococcus epidermidis, Salmonella typhi and Vibrio cholerae. Leucrocin I, Leucrocin III, and Leucrocin IV show less toxicity against human red blood cells than Leucrocin II. For related peptides see also: RT2 peptide,
