[lymphocyte blastogenesis inhibitory factor] This factor of 57 kDa is isolated from the conditioned medium of the human lymphoma cell line U937. It inhibits the synthesis of various immunoglobulin species by spleen cells stimulated with bacterial lipopolysaccharides and also influences the proliferation of T-lymphocytes. The factor strongly inhibits the growth of a number of different tumor cell lines and is also cytotoxic or cytostatic for some of these cells.
This factor is probably synthesized by human cells
