The cell line is a clonal derivative of the Sprague-Dawleyrat mammary tumor cell line established from a mammary cancer induced with dimethylbenz(a)anthracene.
The cells secrete TGF, int-2, bFGF into the conditioned medium.
Monolayers of lethally irradiated (6000 rads) cells have been used as feeder cells to promote the proliferation and colony formation of primary and sub-cultured mouse mammary, mouse thymus and rat mammary cells.
