KLPH

[Klotho-LPH related protein; Klotho-lactase-phlorizin hydrolase-related protein] The approved gene symbol is LCTL [lactase-like; Lactase-like protein] The protein is being referred to also as KLG [Klotho-gamma; Gamma-Klotho], being related in sequence to Alpha-Klotho and Beta-Klotho.

This mouse gene has been identified by Ito et al (2002). It encodes a mammalian family 1 glycosidase-like protein but lacks the active site observed in these enzymes. KLPH is a putative type 1 membrane protein that consists of N-terminal signal sequence, glycosidase domain, transmembrane region and short cytoplasmic tail.
