KLK14

[Kallikrein 14; Kallikrein-related peptidase 14]. The human gene has been cloned by Hooper et al (2001) and Yousef et al (2001). KLK14 has been shown to activate the proform of KLK5 (Brattsand et al, 2005). Emami and Diamandis (2008) have reported that KLK14 activates the proforms of KLK1, KLK3, and KLK11, and possible other kallikrein-related proteases. The peptidase has been implicated in skin desquamation and semen liquefaction (Emami et al, 2008).

Oikonomopoulou et al (2013) have reported a role of KLK14 in innate immune responses through its ability to process complement factor C3 during inflammation.
