Jerne B-cells

also: Jerne cells. This term has been used to refer to anti-idiotypic B-cells (producing antibodies against the variable region of other antibody molecules) (Mitra-Kaushik et al, 2002). Such antibodies may have the ability to bind to the antigen-binding site of autoantibodies and are therefore thought to prevent autoimmunity (Hampe, 2012).
