This Drosophila melanogaster protein (242 amino acids), encoded by gene CG1274, has been identified by virtue of its expression in Drosophila melanogaster wing imaginal discs of third instar larvae as compared to expression in other imaginal discs of the same age (Rodriguez et al, 2000). The protein has the activity of a thioredoxin peroxidase and is known also as thioredoxin peroxidase 2.
Tenev et al (2002) have identified Jafrac2 as a protein interacting with IAP proteins. Mature Jafrac2 interacts genetically and biochemically with DIAP1 and promotes cell death by apoptosis in tissue culture cells and the Drosophila melanogaster
