The gene is one of a series of putative tyrosine kinases expressed in, and cloned from, the K-562 chronic myelogenous leukemia cell line (Partanen et al, 1990). Sequence analysis shows that JTK2 is identical with FGFR4 [fibroblast growth factor receptor-4].
