Inhibin-beta-C
abbr. INHBC. This protein is related to the Inhibins and is referred to also as Activin beta-C. The homodimeric molecule consisting of two Inhibin-beta-C subunits is called also Activin C.
The cDNA encodes a protein consisting of 270 amino acids (Hütten et al, 1995). It is highly homologous to the ribonucleoprotein gene, referred to as FBRNP (fetal brain ribonucleoprotein), from a locus (D10S102) which has been shown to be linked closely to MEN2 (multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2) (Takiuchi et al, 1993).
