[inhibitor of growth 4] This putative tumor suppressor gene has been cloned by Shiseki et al (2003) who called it p29ING4. Shiseki et al (2003) have shown that overexpression of ING4 in cancer cell lines diminishes colony-forming efficiency, decreases cell population in S phase, and induces p53-dependent cell death by apoptosis.
Garkavtsev et al (2004) have reported that ING4 regulates brain tumor angiogenesis through transcriptional repression of NF-kappa-B responsive genes such as IL8, IL6, G-CSF
