IFIX

[Interferon-inducible protein X] The approved gene symbol for this protein is PYHIN1 [pyrin and HIN domain family member 1; Pyrin and HIN domain-containing protein 1]. IFIX, which is a member of a family of proteins containing a HIN domain, has been identified by Ding et al (2004) who reported the existence of at least six different splice isoforms. The expression of IFIX is reduced in most human breast tumors and breast cancer cell lines, and expression of IFIX-alpha-1, the longest isoform of IFIX, in human breast cancer cell lines reduces their anchorage-dependent growth and anchorage-independent growth in vitro and tumorigenicity in nude ... ... ... ... ...
