Hymenochirin-1Pa
This antimicrobial peptide, LKLSPKTKDTLKKVLKGAIKGAIAIASMA, from skin secretions of Pseudhymenochirus merlini (Merlin's clawed frog) is one of a larger group of hymenochirins. The peptide is active against a broad spectrum of Gram-negative bacteria and Gram-positive bacteria. It has anticancer peptide activities and is active against human non-small lung adenocarcinoma A549 cells, breast adenocarcinoma cells, and colorectal adenocarcinoma HT-29 cells. The peptide is hemolytic, but a mutant (D9K) is not (Conlon et al, 2013)
