HuR
[Hu antigen R; Human antigen R] HuR is a member of a family of RNA-binding proteins (see also: Hu antigens). An alternative designation is HuA [Hu antigen A]. The approved gene symbol is ELAVL1 [embryonic lethal abnormal vision homolog 1].
Role in mRNA stability
HuR is expressed ubiquitously and modulates the stability, translation, and localization of subsets of mRNAs by interacting with ARE [AU-rich elements] present in their 3′-untranslated regions (Peng et al, 1998; Abdelmohsen et al, 2008; Srikantan et al, 2012; Ripin et al, 2019). HuR confers stability to mRNAs containing these mRNA decay elements
