Hepatitis C virus NS3 protein

[Hepatitis C virus nonstructural protein 3; HCV NS3 protein; NS3 protein] This protein is a non-structural protein contained within the viral polyprotein encoded by the genome of the positive-strand RNA virus Hepatitis C virus. NS3 is a serine protease belonging to the trypsin/chymotrypsin protease superfamily (Kim et al, 1996; Love et al, 1996). The protease activity located in the N-terminal one-third of NS3 is responsible for processing of the non-structural region of the HCV polyprotein (Grakoui et al, 1993, 1993; Tomei et al, 1993). The C-terminal two-thirds of NS3 have an RNA helicase activity (Suzich et al, 1993) (for overview see also: Raney et al, 2010). The viral NS4A protein serves as a cofactor that controls the proteinase ... ... ... ...
