Helios is transcription factor factor belonging to the Ikaros family. The approved gene symbol is IKZF2 [Ikaros family zinc finger 2; Ikaros family zinc finger protein 2]. The factor is being referred to also as ZNF1A2 [Zinc finger protein subfamily 1A member 2].
Kelley et al (1998) have cloned the Helios gene. The human cDNA has been cloned by Hosokawa et al (1999). Kelley et al (1998) have reported expression of Helios in the earliest hematopoietic sites of the embryo, in hematopoietic stem cells in the adult, and subsequently in a subset of cells in the T-cell lineage
