[Hematopoietic Signal peptide-containing Secreted 1] This protein of unknown function is encoded by C19orf63 [chromosome 19 open reading frame 63] and has been described independently as INM02, which is expressed in beta-cells. The approved gene symbol is EMC10 [ER membrane protein complex subunit 10].
HSS1 has been identified from microarray data derived from purified hematopoietic stem cell populations (Junes-Gill et al, 2011). HSM1 (Hematopoietic Signal peptide-containing Membrane domain-containing 1) is a splice variant of this protein.
