HASF
[hypoxia and Akt induced stem cell factor] This protein is secreted by mesenchymal stem cells. It is encoded by open reading frame C3orf58 [chromosome 3 open reading frame 58] (Takatalo et al, 2006). The approved gene symbol for HASF is DIPK2A [divergent protein kinase domain 2A].
The protein is a paracrine factor that can promote cardiac repair through cytoprotective mechanisms and can contribute to cardiac regeneration by stimulating cardiomyocyte division and proliferation (Beigi et al, 2013).
