GLMR

[gp130-like monocyte receptor] This type I cytokine receptor shows homology to gp130, the signal transducing chain of the receptor for IL6 and GM-CSF. The genes encoding human (732 amino acids) and murine (716 amino acids) GLMR are located in close proximity to the respective gp130 genes.

GLMR appears to be expressed specifically on CD14(+) cells (monocytes). It is upregulated more than 50-fold upon cell activation. Experiments with chimeric receptor constructs demonstrate that GLMR signals proliferation, and activates the signal transducers STAT3 and STAT5.
