Follistatin

abbr. and approved gene symbol: FST. This protein is called also Follicle-stimulating hormone suppressing protein (abbr. FSP) and Activin-binding protein. Follistatin is a monomeric glycoprotein of 315 amino acids. It is synthesized as a precursor of 344 amino acids. The protein is remarkably cysteine-rich (36 cysteine residues).
