[Follicle-stimulating hormone] FSH, known in older references also as Follitropin, is a heterodimeric protein consisting of an alpha subunit (FSHA [follicle-stimulating hormone alpha chain; alpha-FSH, alpha-follicle-stimulating hormone], which is shared with other glycoprotein hormones (see: glycoprotein hormones alpha peptide), and a hormone-specific beta subunit (Beta-FSH or FSHB (approved gene symbol), FSH-beta [beta-follicle-stimulating hormone; follicle-stimulating hormone-beta].
