[fyn-related kinase] FRK is a non-receptor protein tyrosine kinase (505 amino acids) cloned from the human hepatoma cell line Hep3B. The predicted amino acid sequence contains a characteristic tyrosine kinase motif without a transmembrane region, suggesting an intracellular localization. There is a 49 % amino acid sequence identity with human fyn and 47 % with human src (Lee et al, 1994).
The kinase has been described independently as RAK (a Russian word for cancer) (Cance et al, 1994). RAK resides predominantly in the nucleus, is expressed predominantly in epithelial-derived cell lines
