Ependymin (abbr. epd) is a glycoprotein synthesized by leptomeningeal fibroblasts and secreted to high concentrations into the cerebrospinal fluid of teleost fishes. Ependymin sequences have been found in many fish species, and ependymin-related sequences are found also in humans and mice (for overview see: Suárez-Castillo and García-Arrarás, 2007) (see also: EPDR1 [ependymin related protein 1]).
