Endorepellin is an 80 kDa bioactive C-terminal fragment (705 amino acids) of perlecan (4370 amino acids; HSPG2 [heparan sulfate proteoglycan 2]) a ubiquitous basement membrane heparan sulfate proteoglycan that plays key roles in blood vessel growth and structural integrity. Endorepellin contains three laminin-like globular (LG) domains. The LG3 peptide (195 amino acids) is the C-terminal bioactive proteolytic fragment of endorepellin and spans 195 amino acids (residues 4197-4391 of the parent protein) (Mongiat et al, 2003).This fragment is produced by specific enzymes of the BMP1 / Tolloid family of metalloproteases (Gonzales et al, 2005). The C-terminus of perlecan is processed proteolytically also by cathepsin L
