EndoCAM

[endothelial cellular adhesion molecule] This glycoprotein of 130 kDa is expressed on the surface of endothelial cells both in culture and in situ. It is present also on platelets and white blood cells. Antibodies against endoCAM prevent the initial formation of endothelial cell-cell contacts (Albelda et al, 1990). This adhesion molecule is the bovine form of CD31 (PECAM1) (Albelda et al, 1991).
