Encamins are peptides derived from NCAM [neural cell adhesion molecule] (CD56). These peptides are derived from the fibronectin type 3 (FN3) modules of NCAM, which are known to directly interact with the fibroblast growth factor receptor FGFR1. They act as agonists for the fibroblast growth factor receptor (see also: FGF mimetic peptides) (Hansen et al, 2008).
Encamin A is SIDRVEPYSSTAQVQFD and corresponds to NCAM(515-531), which would correspond to CD56(515-531)
