EL4
A murine T-lymphoma (thymoma) cell line established from a tumor induced by 9,10-dimethyl-1,2-benzanthracene in C57/BL/6N mice.
EL4 cells have been shown to secrete IL2, CSF, and MAF (macrophage activating factor) into the conditioned medium.
The cell line is used to assay IL1 (see also: bioassays, cytokine assays).
Many sublines of EL4 have been established but not all of them are responsive to IL1. The cells respond to IL1 isolated from almost all vertebrates. IL1
