EBI-6

[EBV induced gene-6; Epstein-Barr virus induced gene 6] EBI-6 is induced by infection of cells with Epstein Barr virus. Human EBI-6 and the murine tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated protein, TRAF1 are 86 % identical and both proteins are considered homologous.

Expression of EBV latent infection membrane protein-1 (LMP1) causes EBI-6 and another protein (see: LAP1) to localize to LMP1 clusters in lymphoblast plasma membranes. EBI-6 associates with the p80 subunit of the receptor for TNF-alpha.
