Drosophila insulin-like peptides

abbr. frequently DILPs. Unlike mammals with insulin-like factors IGF-1 and IGF-2 and insulin, Drosophila melanogaster has eight genes encoding insulin-like peptides, which are the ligands that trigger the insulin signaling cascade (Brogiolo et al, 2001; Guirao-Rico and Aguadé, 2011; Grönke et al, 2010; Colombani et al, 2012; Garelli et al, 2012).
